Professional focus
Mustafa's work sits between established institutions and early-stage business building. He has worked with SMEs seeking practical advice, founders preparing for growth or fundraising, corporate teams developing new ventures, and startup programmes evaluating emerging companies.
His main areas of focus are:
- Singapore's SME and startup ecosystem
- Business growth and market-entry preparation
- Corporate venture building and startup acceleration
- Practical AI adoption for smaller businesses and leadership teams
This combination informs his current interest in how companies establish credibility in Singapore, learn from the market before committing significant resources, and decide whether a wider APAC expansion plan is commercially justified.
Current work
Mustafa founded SGAPAC Growth in 2026. The platform develops practical resources and support for founder-led and funded B2B companies considering Singapore and wider APAC expansion.
Its focus is the period before a company makes a large regional commitment: testing whether Singapore is the right base, identifying the market and stakeholder signals that matter, building credible local presence, and deciding when local hiring or entity setup is justified.
SGAPAC Growth currently publishes resources on Singapore market entry, APAC expansion strategy, fractional growth leadership and building Singapore presence before hiring locally.
The platform focuses on turning early market intelligence into practical decisions about positioning, partnerships, local presence, hiring and regional expansion. Its subject matter includes buyer and partner validation, local positioning, regional hiring decisions and the role Singapore can play in a wider APAC strategy.
Professional experience
SME and business advisory
Mustafa worked at SME Centre@SICCI across two separate periods. SME Centre@SICCI is an initiative supported by Enterprise Singapore and operates within the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry ecosystem.
During his first stint, Mustafa progressed to Project Head. His work covered business advisory, project leadership and engagement with Singapore's SME and startup community. He later returned to SME Centre@SICCI in an acting leadership capacity.
Approximately 2,800 businesses were supported during his first SME Centre@SICCI stint. His cumulative career total later exceeded 3,000 businesses supported.
Corporate venture building and innovation
At ING Bank's Innovation Lab, Mustafa worked on corporate venture-building and innovation activity. This experience involved the development of new business ideas within a corporate setting and working across the practical demands of innovation, stakeholder alignment and venture development.
Startup acceleration
Mustafa also contributed to startup-acceleration work at KPMG Singapore. His experience included work connected with the development of an accelerator programme for growth-stage startups.
Together, these roles gave him experience across SME development, corporate innovation and professional-services environments.
Singapore and regional work
Mustafa's professional record is rooted in Singapore's SME and startup ecosystem. He has also worked with founders, programmes and ecosystem organizations connected with South and Southeast Asia.
His current work through SGAPAC Growth applies that background to the questions B2B companies face when considering Singapore as a base for wider regional growth.
Practical AI adoption
AI is a secondary area within Mustafa's current professional work. His focus is practical adoption by SMEs, founders and business teams: identifying useful workflows, setting clear ownership and review processes, and connecting technology choices to operating needs.
He completed a Specialist Diploma in AI Solutions Development at Temasek Polytechnic from October 2024 to October 2025. His recent writing and speaking have addressed AI adoption, business workflows and the implications of AI for smaller companies and leadership teams.
Governance and community leadership
Mustafa is an Executive Council Committee Member of Epilepsy Care Group (Singapore), a role he has held since 2026.
From approximately 2017 to 2025, he served across multiple terms as a Committee Member of the Singapore Pakistani Association. He also undertook Acting Secretary responsibilities during the association's 2021 election cycle.
These roles form part of Mustafa's community and association experience.
Advisory and mentoring
Mustafa has advised and mentored founders on business growth, fundraising preparation, market access, partnerships and startup development.
His advisory and mentoring activity has included founder workshops, startup evaluation, pitch feedback and participation in accelerator and ecosystem programmes. This inncludes work connected with the CAREC initiatives of Asian Development Bank, as a Venture Partner with Turtle Ventures and as a mentor with Accelerating Asia Ventures and Plug & Play.
Advisory and mentoring roles are separate from Mustafa's governance positions and investing activity.
Investing
Mustafa has made angel investments in early-stage companies. Two examples are PriyoShop, a Bangladesh-based retail technology company in which he invested in 2022 and Pattern Technologies, a Pakistan-based software studio that builds solutions for global enterprises.
His investing activity is personal and distinct from his advisory, governance and operating roles.
